NEET 2017 Exam : Tamil Nadu in Protest
Many educational institutions and organizations have come together and have formed Tamil Nadu Educationist Federation in Trichy against the NEET UG exam 2017.
This Tamil Nadu association is of the view that NEET exam will deplete the rights of state govt. and it violates the federal structure of India. On April 1, the organization is planning an event in order to get more support in the state of Tamil Nadu against NEET exam through a conference at Trichy. The coordinator for Jesuits institutions in the state Xavier Alphonse said that there is a need to create awareness among students, teachers and parents on wrong implications of NEET in the first stage.
Candidates must note that this will also deprive the marginal and weaker section of the society from pursuing medical education. There has also been objections on the concern that students from CBSE board will fare better than the students from other boards. Tamil Nadu chief Minister K Palaniswami has also urged the Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to exempt Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The Chief Minister had also discussed the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week. Tamil Nadu CM has requested Modi to approve two Tamil Nadu bills, allowing exemption for the students from the state from appearing in NEET to get admission into medical and dental colleges in the state.
